Marouane Fellaini says Manchester United teammate Angel Di Maria would be a good signing for PSG

Old Trafford

One Manchester United player has been speaking about another in an interview sure to set tongues wagging.

According to a report from the Manchester Evening News, Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini has spoken about the prospect of Angel Di Maria moving to French side Paris Saint-Germain.

The newspaper has published comments originating from an interview with Telefoot, in which he is quoted as saying, “Angel Di Maria would be a good signing for PSG. He is a world-class player.”

The statement is somewhat strange given that the Argentine international is currently on the books at United and only arrived at the club last summer for a club-record fee.

But considering how the former Real Madrid star has struggled in recent times, it would not be against the realms of possibility that he left Old Trafford in a bid to rediscover his form.

When Di Maria first arrived at United it looked like he would take the Premier League by storm, as he hit the ground running, scoring three goals and providing four assists in his first six appearances.

That included a peach of a strike against Leicester City but a hamstring injury curtailed his season and when he return after a brief absence he struggled to replicate his best form.

Ultimately United manager Louis van Gaal found an effective starting line-up that did not include the Argentine and he was used predominantly as an impact substitute as the season drew to a close.

While Fellaini will have been asked if Di Maria would be a good signing for PSG rather than making the statement unprompted, the United player’s comments are sure to set the rumour mill into overdrive, especially after the signing of Memphis Depay.
