Former Arsenal prospect hits back at Mesut Ozil’s critics, calls them ‘clowns’

Mesut Ozil was superb for Arsenal against Aston Villa in the final of the FA Cup at London’s Wembley Stadium on Saturday.

Former Arsenal prospect Anthony Jeffrey has taken to social networking site Twitter to hit back at the critics of Mesut Ozil.

Ozil is one of the best players in the world, but he has not had the best of times since his move to Arsenal from Real Madrid in the summer of 2013.

The Germany international attacking playmaker has often been deployed on the wing by manager Arsene Wenger.

The 26-year-old’s performances when played out of position have been disappointing at times, but against Aston Villa in the final of the FA Cup on Saturday evening he was superb.

Ozil gave a gave a good account of himself at London’s Wembley Stadium and was sublime with his passes.

The former Werder Bremen star’s work rate was also admirable, leading to Jeffrey - currently on the books of Welling United - singing his praises and hitting back at his critics.

Arsenal defeated Premier League rivals Villa 4-0 in the final to win the FA Cup for the second year in a row.

Theo Walcott put the Gunners in the lead in the 40th minute, and Chile international forward Alexis Sanchez doubled the advantage five minutes into the second half.

Per Mertesacker made it 3-0 to the North London outfit with a header just past the hour mark, and Olivier Giroud wrapped up the comprehensive win late on.
