The Gunners faithful raved about the midfield destroyer after the game.
Goals from Theo Walcott, Alexis Sanchez, Per Mertesacker and Olivier Giroud did the trick as Arsenal played a poor Aston Villa side off the pitch.
For one Arsenal player, it is doubtful he imagined he would be in this position a year ago.
Last summer Francis Coquelin had just been voted the Bundesliga flop of the season after a poor spell playing left-wing for SC Freiburg on loan.
Now he is the bedrock that Arsenal's attacking play is based on.
The Frenchman has been pivotal to Arsenal's recent success, ever since being recalled early from a loan stint with Charlton Athletic.
Yesterday was no different. He destroyed Villa attacks throughout the game and burst away on the counter attack when needed.
All in all, it was yet another stunning display from the combative midfielder.
Arsenal fans have been calling for a midfielder of his type for some time now and it looks like he may have saved Arsene Wenger millions in the transfer market with his performances.
Here is how Arsenal fans reacted to his performance on Twitter...
