The Paraguayan whizz-kid has admitted his Gunners dream, but is off to the Italian capital.
Young Paraguayan attacker Sergio Diaz has been causing quite a stir of late, despite only being 17.
The Cerro Porteno forward has already been starring in senior club football despite his young age and is playing for his nation under-20’s side.
As such a move to Europe has been touted in both the South American and European media, with a number of high-profile clubs keeping tabs on the teenager.
With Diaz widely regarded as one of the most promising young players in world football, the player has confirmed that he is on the verge of signing for Roma.
However, despite the switch to the Italian capital, Diaz stated that his dream is to play in England with Arsenal.
“My dream is to play for Arsenal, which I’ve had since I was a child,” he told Paraguay’s RGS Radio.
“My future? I am told my transfer to Roma is all but done.
“At the moment it is still very quiet; I do not know when I will leave for Italy but in essence my move to Roma has been confirmed.”
Arsenal have a plethora of attacking options available to them, with a host of younger players such as Chuba Akpom also pushing for recognition in Arsene Wenger’s first-team squad.
The Gunners are expected to strengthen their contingent this summer, but it looks increasingly likely that Diaz will not be one of the new faces at the Emirates Stadium.
