Newcastle United fans have taken to social networking site Twitter to criticise the club’s decision to offer Sammy Ameobi a new contract.
The 23-year-old winger’s current contract with the Premier League outfit runs out at the end of next month.
But it seems that Newcastle want the former England Under-21 international to remain at St. James’ Park for the forseeable future.
Ameobi is a product of the Magpies’ youth academy and has made over 50 league appearances for the first team.
However, the winger is not one of the best players in the current Newcastle squad, and the fans are not happy with the club’s decision to offer him a new deal.
The Newcastle supporters are also displeased that the Magpies have decided to release midfielder Jonas Gutierrez.
The Argentine is also out of contract at the end of June, and the club have decided not to offer him a new contract.
Sammy Ameobi gets a new deal but Jonas doesn't ?!?! I'm sorry but what an awful, awful decision #nufc— mozLAD (@MozzaNUFC) May 29, 2015
