The Belgian youngster could be Everton's first signing of the summer.
It looks as though Everton are on the verge of concluding their first signing of the summer, a player many probably thought they had already snapped up.
19-yea-old David Henen is a talented Belgian who has been linked with several big names over the years.
He has spent this season on loan at Everton and now his agent believes the deal will be made permanent. Christophe Henrotay told the Liverpool Echo:
“He really changed beyond all recognition. The reports of Martinez and the U21 coach are very favourable. Both praise his mentality, his involvement and his integration.”
Henen's signing last summer was truly a confusing one.
He trained with the club throughout the summer but then joined Greek side Olympiakos from Anderlecht at the last minute. He was then immediately loaned back to Everton for 12 months.
The Liverpool Echo explained the deal in September last year. Martinez wanted him, but had concerns over his attitude and application - so balked at the £300,000 asking price. Olympiakos snapped him up, loaned him to Everton, who have a £500,000 buying option on the player should he prove himself.
It looks like he will be on his way to Everton permanently now and Everton fans will hope he can fulfill his massive potential at Goodison Park.
