The suspended Leeds assistant has hit back at owner Massimo Cellino.
If you are waiting for a reason why Steve Thompson was suspended by Leeds United last season... keep waiting, according to an exclusive interview with Football Fan Cast.
Indeed, Neil Redfearn's no.2 last term has finally spoken out about his controversial spell with the club, stating that he is still waiting for a reason for his suspension.
Leeds had hit a stable run of form under Redfearn and Thompson's stewardship at the time but then lost several games in a row after his exit.
Speculation since has suggested one reason or another for the incident and Thompson says there was no basis for the decision.
He said: "I will have my say on the matter, I have been quiet for too long now but there was no incident. I was suspended for no reason whatsoever."
Meanwhile, Thompson also confirmed he will not be returning to Leeds and hit back at owner Massimo Cellino.
Redfearn's former assistant says no one will be able to treat him like that and intimated that it is impossible to work in the dugout at Leeds under the 'circumstances' created by the Italian.
He added: "I got suspended and I am still waiting for the reason why. I won’t be going back. There is no way. Leeds United is a big club, you don’t have to sell anybody the club’s history but no one treats me like that, especially when I have done nothing.
"You cannot work under those circumstances and how things in the dressing room were. There are many things that are not right at that club."
There's never a quiet day at Leeds. And never a quiet day with Cellino.
What will the Whites supremo say in response to Thompson's comments, one wonders? This most likely isn't the last we'll hear of the matter...
