The suspended Leeds assistant has been discussing the former manager.
So now that the dust has settled, Steve Thompson has finally spoken out about his time at Leeds United.
Neil Redfearn's no.2 at Elland Road, Thompson was suspended towards the end of last season - and the reason no one knows why, in his words, is because even he wasn't given a reason, according to an exclusive interview with Football Fan Cast.
Meanwhile, the 50-year-old has also discussed his former boss in ex-Leeds head coach Redfearn. He, too, was relieved of his duties unceremoniously this summer. Redfearn wasn't suspended, of course, but he was heavily scrutinised by owner Massimo Cellino before it was made public the 49-year-old's contract wouldn't be renewed.
Executive director Adam Pearson suggested Leeds have offered Redfearn his old job at the academy back and Thompson has commented on the 'disappointing' nature of Redfearn's exit, as well as praising the job he has done with the Whites.
He said: "I think he wanted to stay. It’s disappointing how it has all happened
"Neil has kept his dignity in how he has handled things. He deserves a lot of credit for the academy and the young players that have come through. I have been at clubs where they have got amazing young players but these are the best I’ve seen and it’s all down to Neil."
Uwe Rosler will take charge of Leeds at the start of the season but the rate with which Cellino went through head coaches last term raises the question of just how long the German will last at Elland Road...
