Reported Sunderland and Derby County managerial candidate Paul Clement has left his position at Real Madrid.

Paul Clement has taken to social networking site Twitter to reveal that he is leaving Real Madrid.

The 43-year-old has been working as the assistant coach at the Spanish giants since 2013, but following the dismissal of Carlo Ancelotti, he has decided to leave the Santiago Bernabeu.

Clement has been linked with the vacant managerial positions at Premier League club Sunderland and Championship outfit Derby County.

According to BBC Sport, the Englishman is “set to replace Steve McClaren” as the Derby head coach, although The Derby Telegraph has reported that Sunderland could be prepared to move for him.

Clement has worked with Ancelotti for years, but he has not been in charge of a team on his own.

This means that it will be a risk for Sunderland or Derby if they go for Clement, but it could also prove to be a brilliant move.

Clement is considered a very good coach, and perhaps he will also prove to be a very good ‘head coach’ or ‘manager’.
