Stoke and Tottenham are both keen on Afellay, who is out-of-contract this summer.
Mark Hughes is interested in the Barcelona winger, as he looks to revamp his new-look Stoke side with another former Camp Nou player. Alongside Bojan and Marc Muniesa, Hughes is looking to bring the Dutch winger to the Britannia Stadium.
Spurs are also referenced as having an interest in Afellay, who has spent this season on loan with Greek Super League side Olympiakos.
A 50-capped Dutch international, Afellay is known for his trickery on the ball and creative abilities, but he has never had the impact at Barca many expected of him. Since signing for the Catalan side in 2011, he has made just 35 appearances, and looks to have stalled his career.
However, his contract runs out at the end of this season, and a move to a club could reignite his form, as he reaches his peak. Both Spurs and Stoke play systems involving frequent wing-play, and the 29-year-old would look to be a good fit for either club.
With no fee having to be paid, Afellay’s decision will rest solely on the contract offer submitted for his abilities, and he will likely factor in the chances of first-team football when deciding which club to sign for this summer.
