Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino admitted to the Sun newspaper that he needs a holiday.
The Spurs boss is feeling the strain after a long first season in charge of the White Hart Lane team, but he doesn’t think he’s going to be able to switch off from thinking about the team very easily.
Spurs are currently on the Australian leg of their post-season tour before the players and the manager will be given some time off ahead of pre-season.
“I need a holiday too, I know it. I’ll maybe get a few days in Barcelona but it’s also difficult to switch off, to stop thinking. If you’re on holiday, it’s with your phone and you are always on it,” he said.
Pochettino’s first season at the club has predominantly been a positive one, as the club finished as the closest challengers to the top four in the Premier League.
He’s worked hard to raise the overall fitness levels of the team and the younger players have excelled under his guidance as he’s looked to create a positive environment for his players to perform in.
The likes of Harry Kane, Ryan Mason and Nabil Bentaleb among others have all excelled under his guidance and should all be looking to progress even further next year.
It’s encouraging that Pochettino seems to be so active in terms of constantly thinking about Tottenham, but it’s important that he doesn’t allow his head to become scrambled and is able to switch off and refresh ahead of the next campaign.
