Michael Owen has predicted in his Betvictor.com column that Arsenal will win the FA Cup final on Saturday.
The former Manchester United and Liverpool striker believes that the Gunners will get the better of Premier League rivals Aston Villa at London’s Wembley Stadium inside 90 minutes.
“The momentum that Villa had after their semi-final win over Liverpool has evaporated and I worry whether their back four will be able to cope with Theo Walcott’s blistering pace; I expect the England international to start in front of Olivier Giroud and if Tim Sherwood’s side leave space behind the back four as they did at Southampton recently I think the Gunners’ will punish them,” Owen wrote on Betvictor.com.
“I expect to see plenty of chances and goals but if Arsene Wenger’s side score first it could be a long evening for the Villa.
“We needed extra time for the Final to be decided in Arsenal’s favour last season against Hull but I think they will get the job done in 90 minutes on Saturday.”
Former Manchester United and Everton star Phil Neville has also backed Arsenal to win the final.
Arsenal will head into the final as favourites, and one should not be surprised if the Gunners win it comfortably.
The North London outfit have the better team and the better players, but Villa’s chances of winning cannot be written off just yet.
Under Tim Sherwood, the Villans have managed to retain their Premier League status for next season.
Villa defeated Liverpool in the semi-finals of the FA Cup, and the players will be confident that they can beat Arsenal.
The key will be the first goal. If Villa get it, then it will make for a very interesting final. But if Arsenal score first, especially in the opening 15 minutes, then it will be hugely difficult for Sherwood’s side to win.
