Tottenham Hotspur legend Glenn Hoddle has suggested in The Daily Mail that Jordon Ibe could replace Raheem Sterling in the Liverpool starting line-up next season.
England international winger Sterling is on the radar of North London outfit Arsenal, according to The Daily Star.
“I saw Jordon Ibe at Derby when he was on loan this season and he stood out as a talent,” Hoddle wrote in The Daily Mail. “He has pace and ability to drive into dangerous areas and uses the ball well.
“Now he is breaking into the Liverpool side and if Raheem Sterling does go, they have someone who could have as good an end product.
“The fact he has signed a long-term contract should be a huge comfort to the fans as the Sterling saga rumbles on.”
Ibe has been a revelation for Liverpool this season and has established himself as one of the best young players in the Premier League.
The 19-year-old was recalled from his loan spell at Championship outfit Derby County in January.
In 12 Premier League appearances for the Reds in the second half of the season, Ibe created six chances, had a pass accuracy of 87% and a shot accuracy of 44%. The teenager won four headers, 24 dribbles and four tackles.
During his loan spell at Championship outfit Derby County, the youngster scored five goals and created 13 chances in 20 league matches.
Ibe had a pass accuracy of 87% and a shot accuracy of 48%, and he won three headers, 51 dribbles and four tackles.
