Saturday's final in the Copa del Rey, could well be the last outing with Athletic Club Bilbao for hugely talented young defender, Aymeric Laporte, as his team seeks to prevent La Liga champions Barcelona achieving a domestic double.
There's no shortage of leading clubs interested in the 21-year-old, with Real Madrid regularly expected to make a move, whilst in England, Manchester City and Chelsea have also been frequently linked. Meanwhile, according to the Express recently, Manchester United remain strong favourites for a summer bid.
Given the circumstances, inevitably, Laporte was questioned about his future plans, ahead of participating in the Copa del Rey final against Barcelona.
However, amidst all the rumours and speculation, the young French international was keen to point out: "What I'll say is that I have a contract until 2018, so in that regard, I'm calm. I'm focused on Saturday's game and right now, I'm not thinking about anything other than Athletic."
Pushed further on the subject of a potential move away from San Mames this summer, and whether it's at the back of his mind heading into the final, Laporte assured: "I'm really not thinking about any of that, truthfully. It's not something that's going to affect how I play the game. I'll play the same way I always do: calmly."
On the chances of Athletic beating Barcelona on Saturday, Laporte expressed both confidence and determination, underlining: "It's a final and they'll try to be 100% in everything they do, whilst we must try to be 200%."
"We must show we're capable of withstanding the pressure and the nerves. We know Barcelona are a great team, and we know we'll have to do everything well and really go for the game." He concluded.
Despite what has been a tough season for Athletic Club in La Liga, Laporte has continued to shine, giving plenty of credence to why he's regarded as one of the best young centre-back's in Europe.
A key part of the Athletic Club defence, the Copa del Rey final will be Laporte's 49th appearance in all competitions, during the 2014-15 campaign.
Undoubtedly and amidst all the rumours, the question will remain as to whether this will be his last for the Basque club, having made 103 appearances for the team during the meteoric rise of his career.
