Wenger admits to 'liking Vidal' as Juve reportedly set asking price

Arturo Vidal Chile

Are Arsenal set to add another Chilean superstar to their ranks?

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has been discussing Juventus midfielder Arturo Vidal this week, and hinted that the 28-year-old may well be a target, once the Londoners turn their 'transfer mode' on.

Recent speculation, such as this piece in the Guardian, has seen Arsenal closely linked to the Chilean star, who is set to feature in the Champions League final against Barcelona next week.

Arsenal are preparing for their own final against Aston Villa this weekend, and Wenger touched on his interest in Vidal in the press conference leading up to that game, according to quotes from Sky Sports.

"If you want me to say I like Arturo Vidal, yes I like Arturo Vidal," Wenger admitted ahead of Saturday's FA Cup final.

"Are we in a transfer mode? I say, no."

The Arsenal manager's comments were followed by a report in Italian publication Tuttosport that Juventus are holding out for a figure of €40-50 million euro for their star man.

Vidal has been somewhat less influential this season that last year's impressive campaign that saw him score 18 times, but his 8 goals have come in a season that could be one of the club's most successful ever - depending on the result of the match between the league winners of Spain and Italy in the climax of Europe's premier club competition.
