Former Tottenham Hotspur player and manager Glenn Hoddle has tipped Aston Villa to pull off a surprise at Wembley this weekend.
Arsenal struggled to beat Championship side Reading in the semi-final, needing extra-time, as they did against Wigan and Hull City last season to clinch the cup.
Hoddle said: "I genuinely think that there is going to be a big upset and that Arsenal are not going to retain the FA Cup.
“Arsenal just don’t seem to perform at Wembley, they struggled when they lost against Birmingham in the League Cup Final, they struggled even when they beat Hull last year. And and they struggled against Reading in the Wembley FA Cup semi-final.
"I think Villa will be able to play with a lot of confidence, so I don’t see this as the foregone conclusion many people might. So I’m going for a 2-1 win to Villa."
A few weeks ago Aston Villa's self-belief was brimming, pulling off a memorable semi-final win against a more-fancied Liverpool side.
Over the last fortnight though that confidence may have taken a hit, losing 6-1 to Southampton and 1-0 to Burnley.
There may be an element of players saving themselves for the final, and worrying about injury in the games leading up to it which led to them holding back a bit, but playing at full intensity is not so easy to switch on and off, and there is a reason third placed Premier League finishers Arsenal are favourites.
SkyBet list the Gunners at 1/2 to win in 90 minutes, and Villa at 5/1.
