Report: West Ham enter transfer race to sign Slovakian international midfielder Ondrej Duda

Legia Warsaw

West Ham are looking to fight off interest in Duda from Aston Villa and Southampton.

As reported by Legia Sport, West Ham are the latest in a long line of teams keen on signing Ondrej Duda this summer.

The 20-year-old Slovakian playmaker currently turns out for Legia Warsaw in Poland, where he has played for just under a year-and-a-half. He has made 54 appearances for the Polish giants, scoring 11 goals and registering 10 assists, establishing himself as one of the most in-demand talents in European football.

His impressive form saw him earn his first senior caps for Slovakia, and he has since scored one goal in his two games for his nation.

It is expected that Duda will leave Legia this summer, when the transfer window opens, and the Hammers are just one of many Premier League clubs said to be interested in acquiring his services.

Transferrin.pl had reported on Villa’s interest in the last few months, whilst Southampton have submitted a £6 million bid for his services, as per the Sun.

Duda is a real talent who has proven himself in European competition this season, and looks to have a remarkably bright future ahead of him. The Hammers are keen on putting together a side who can challenge at European level whilst playing attacking, progressive football, and Duda has shown he can fulfil those roles.

He is an attacking midfielder known for his dribbling and playmaking abilities, and it looks as if he is the perfect signing to usher in a new era of success at the Boleyn Ground.
