The VfB Stuttgart defender's release clause has just come into play.
German international defender Antonio Rudiger is certainly a player attracting plenty of interest this summer. The VfB Stuttgart centre-back, who has five caps for Germany, is reportedly considering an exit from his current club this summer.
The former Borussia Dortmund talent is also not going to cost much, which will no doubt attract the attention of West Ham United - who were linked with his signature this time last year.
West Ham were linked with a move for the player by Sky Sports this time last year. They reported at the time that West Ham had indeed already made a bid for the player.
The Hammers could still do with strengthening their defence for next season. Whilst Winston Reid, James Tomkins, James Collins and Reece Burke are all capable players Rudiger is perhaps better than the lot.
Now, West Ham have been given the fee it will cost to pry him from Stuttgart.
It has been reported that Rudiger has a release clause of just €10 million by German source Stuttgarter Nachrichten this week.
At that price West Ham would be mad not to make a bid for the player, even if there is report of interest from Premier League champions Chelsea.
