Arsenal centre-back Laurent Koscielny has revealed a surprise role model... Cristiano Ronaldo.
The Frenchman was speaking to the FA website about his route from France's lower leagues to the top of English football, and says he has been able to kick on by continually pushing himself to improve.
Accepting they are very different kind of players, Koscielny compared his attitude to that of Real Madrid star and Ballon d'Or winner Ronaldo.
He said: "Maybe I don’t have the talent of a big player – I just try to be myself, work, and improve my quality.
"But then all the best players are the same. Cristiano Ronaldo – he works a lot too. He always wants more.
"He scores 50 goals one season and then the next he wants 60. I’m the same – I work hard because I want more. If you want to be better you need to work."
Koscielny went onto admit he found it tough in his first season in the Premier League, and has one painful memory of Wembley, losing the League Cup final against Birmingham after a horrendous mix-up with goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny.
Cristiano Ronaldo meanwhile is set to end the year trophyless despite scoring an incredible 61 goals for Real Madrid this season.
