Dwight Yorke explains what he doesn't like about Aston Villa's build-up to FA Cup final

Former Aston Villa forward Dwight Yorke is wary of the form his old side are carrying into the FA Cup final.

Former Aston Villa striker Dwight Yorke told talkSPORT that he doesn’t like the way the club have been playing heading into the FA Cup final.

Villa are the underdogs against Arsenal for the final at Wembley this Saturday and they go into the game after Premier League defeats against Southampton and Burnley.

Yorke has suggested that the manager of his old side Tim Sherwood would have preferred a more positive build up to such a big game.

“I look at their last two games and I don’t like it, I really don’t like it – I think Tim would have preferred it to be different,” he said.

The problem that Villa have is that they spent a large chunk of last season enduring spells where the form of the team wasn’t great and that had a big impact on the mentality of the players.

Sherwood has worked so hard at Villa Park to get a more positive mentality into the minds of his players that it would be a shame if they went into the game this weekend on the back foot.

The boss did make changes against Burnley last weekend, which is a possible reason Villa didn’t play with the same intensity.

However, it’s not the result that everyone at the club would have been hoping for ahead of such an important game.

Fingers crossed the players have responded well in training and have a spring in their step against the Gunners.
