The winger has enjoyed a fine season at Manchester United, courtesy of his new manager's tactics.
Young had endured a tough few years at Old Trafford prior to the 2014/15 campaign as a lack of both form and fitness stopped him showcasing his true ability to the United faithful.
This season, though, he has more than proved his worth to new manager Van Gaal, becoming a key player in the side as they returned to the Champions League with a top-four finish in the Premier League.
And Young says he enjoyed the season and is once again relishing being out on the field.
“I’ve enjoyed it, I’ve really enjoyed playing football again,” he said.
“I’ve kicked on and I’ve enjoyed every minute of it. We wanted to get ourselves back winning titles and trophies, but it wasn’t meant to be this season. If we can improve on the form we’ve shown this season and take that into next season, then definitely the titles and cups will be coming back.”
The winger has also praised the work of Van Gaal in his first season in the Premier League.
The Dutchman was brought in to replace David Moyes, after his short and failed stint in charge last season, with the remit of returning the club to the Champions League at the first time of asking.
The experienced boss arrived at Old Trafford after a relatively successful spell in charge of the Holland national team, which came on the back of spells with Barcelona and Bayern Munich in the past, and Young says it has been a pleasure to work with him.
“Working with Louis van Gaal has been a great experience,” he added.
“The opportunity to play under him and work under him day in, day out has been brilliant. He’s a fantastic manager and his track record and what he’s won in the game really speaks for itself.”
