These Liverpool fans are seriously against signing Aston Villa's Christian Benteke

Liverpool are linked with signing Christian Benteke, but the Aston Villa striker's potential arrival is not exciting everybody.

Liverpool are keen to add Christian Benteke to their team next season, with The Guardian reporting the Reds are planning on making a bid after the FA Cup Final.

Aston Villa are expected to be resistant to offers, and will charge a large fee upwards of £20 million to be persuaded to part with the attacker.

Liverpool are not likely to commit such a fee to more than one striker this transfer window, leaving fans wondering whether this is going to be as good as it gets.

Benteke has a solid goals record for Villa, netting 15 goals in 29 games this season, but struggled early on in the campaign before being rejuvenated under the management of Tim Sherwood.

He is powerful in the air and a good finisher, but a perceived lack of mobility should be a concern for Liverpool considering the way Mario Balotelli has struggled.

The Italian's poor performances were not just due to his own lack of focus, but because he was a poor fit for the fluid football Liverpool enjoyed so much success with in 2013/14.

Benteke is a very different player to Luis Suarez is terms of style, and of course ability, but Liverpool need to be realistic in terms of expectations regarding strikers they can attract without Champions League football.

The Aston Villa forward is proven in the Premier League, but a concern over his style, and worries from a fan base still with Andy Carroll fresh in the memory, make for a player who will have a lot to prove if a transfer goes through.

Here are the comments from Liverpool fans who are dead set against the club signing Benteke...
