Report: Manchester United not considering Gaitan

Manchester United have made their move for Nicolas Gaitan... or have they?

Reports Manchester United have agreed a deal for Argentine winger Nicolas Gaitan appear premature.

Portuguese newspaper A Bola claimed earlier today the Red Devils had agreed a fee with Benfica for his signature.

United fans should not however get too carried away. The Manchester Evening News reports that Gaitan is not on the club's list of players to sign this summer.

This is far from the first time Gaitan has been linked with signing for United. The Telegraph claimed back in 2012 that the Red Devils had agreed a fee to sign the winger, but still he remains at Benfica three years on.

United have already signed one player in his position this transfer window, the promising Memphis Depay from PSV, and fans were less than enthused about yet another report from Portugal claiming they have signed Gaitan, when in all probability, they have not.

The club are yet to make a formal announcement regarding any transfer, and until they do, given the denials and past-near missed for the 27-year-old, fans will remain sceptical.
