The Republic of Ireland defender has been linked with a move to Elland Road this week.
Leeds United were linked with a swoop for Reading FC defender Alex Pearce at the weekend by The Sun. The Republic of Ireland international is out of contract this summer and the report claimed Leeds were keen on taking both him and Northern Irishman Chris Baird of West Brom to Elland Road.
HITC Sport understands that Pearce is reluctant to join Leeds, with his main aim being a Reading FC stay. This is not to say a deal is not possible.
Reading have handled their expiring contracts poorly. The club were waiting on ensuring survival before handing out deals to new players but it has backfired. Player of the year Adam Federici is now set to join AFC Bournemouth while club captain Jem Karacan, who has only been offered a one-year deal at the club, is hoping for a more long-term offer - despite his recent injury troubles.
These factors are making Pearce nervous for the future of the club, especially considering that the spine of the team is out of contract this summer.
However Pearce, from Wallingford just outside Reading, is a Royal through and through and his aim is to stay at the Madejski Stadium.
But should his doubts over the club's direction not be addressed sufficiently, he may decide to jump ship if an offer is put to him.
