Tottenham round-up: Adebayor linked with Aston Villa move, Dier reflects on Pochettino philosophy

Emmanuel Adebayor

A selection of the latest stories in the media involving Tottenham Hotspur this Tuesday evening.

Tottenham striker Emmanuel Adebayor has been linked with a move to Aston Villa in the summer by ESPN as a possible replacement for Christian Benteke

The forward looks to be heading towards the exits at White Hart Lane having played very few games in the second half of the season - largely down to the fine form of Harry Kane, but Roberto Soldado has also been getting opportunities ahead of Adebayor.

Benteke has been linked with a move away from Villa Park, with Liverpool credited with holding strong interest in the Belgian by Metro, and should he leave, Tim Sherwood will want to bring in another striker. He worked with Adebayor and enjoyed a degree of success at Spurs during the second half of last season.

After working for a season under Mauricio Pochettino - which saw the side finish fifth in the Premier League and reach a cup final - Eric Dier has said the Head Coach's philosophy is now set in stone, and seems to indicate that the side can hit the ground running from pre-season and beyond.

Dier is quoted in London 24 as saying: “Everyone knows where they’re at, everyone knows what the manager wants. We’ll go into it very positively and try our best.

“We’re happy that we managed to get fifth on the last day of the season, that was the aim at the weekend. But we’ve got to be ambitious and try to get into that top four, so it’s disappointing but we’re obviously happy to get fifth on the last day of the season.”
