Tottenham Hotspur were linked with signing Kamil Glik, now his club Torino have set a deadline for a deal to be done.

Poland international captain Kamil Glik was linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur by The Sun in late March.

Now with the season over, his club side Torino have no desire to let a transfer saga play out over the course of the summer, and have imposed a deadline for interested clubs to do a deal.

Former Real Madrid trainee Glik, 27, has a contract until 2017 with the Serie A side.

Torino president Urban Cairo knows the defender could fetch the club a high price, but wants the situation sorted.

He was quoted by Tuttomercatoweb stating: "He has a contract until 2017 and he is of very good value. If an offer arrives we will evaluate the important, but by June."

The situation was clarified by sporting director Gianluca Petrachi, who confirmed that they will wait until the end of June, and that would be it.

He is reported by ForzaItalianFootball to have told Sky Italia: "We were left a little burned by the Cerci saga last summer.

“[He] had asked to leave and Atletico Madrid got him on the last day, leaving us unbalanced. This year we have a target, any sales will be sorted by 30 June."

That leaves Spurs with just over a month to sign the defender, who chipped in with seven goals for Torino last season.

Tottenham are reported by The Mirror to have already signed 23-year-old FC Koln centre-back Kevin Wimmer, but their transfer business is only just getting started, and with Vlad Chiriches expected to depart, an experienced defender like Glik would add real depth to a group which needs strengthening.
