As reported by the Daily Mail, Watford are set to wrap up the signing of Blackburn forward Rudy Gestede in the coming days, for a fee of £5 million.
The Hornets are preparing for life in the Premier League, and although possessing three exceptional forwards in Troy Deeney, Odion Ighalo and Matej Vydra - on loan from Udinese - it appears as if they want to sign a different type of striker to bolster their attacking options.
Gestede, a 26-year-old Benin international, enjoyed a prolific campaign in the Championship last term, having failed to impress in the years since signing for Cardiff in 2011.
He netted 22 goals in 44 games in all competitions, forming a prolific partnership with Jordan Rhodes, and proving his aerial ability and threat in front of goal on many occasions.
He has been pushing for a move to the top flight for much of this campaign, and the Daily Mail linked him with a move to West Ham or Aston Villa in the past few months.
However, it appears as if Watford are set to beat their new Premier League rivals to a deal for the forward, as they prepare to fight for top flight survival in their first campaign back in the Premier League since 2006/07.
