The Western Daily Press has reported that Leeds United are interested in Southend goalkeeper Daniel Bentley.
The paper suggests that should Bristol City act on their reported interest, Leeds will be one of the teams to make a move to stop them from getting their man without a fight.
Bentley was one of Southend’s most consistent players over the course of last season, as they won promotion to League One after a penalty shoot-out win in the play-off final against Wycombe.
With Leeds’s transfer embargo being removed from the club, they can be competitive in terms of what they can offer as Uwe Rosler looks to make early waves in terms of improving his playing staff.
Marco Silvestri is the current number one at Leeds and is contracted to the club until the end of the season in 2018, which suggests that Bentley would have a real fight on his hands if he took the move.
He’ll feel he’s got a job to do with the Shrimpers but Leeds are a very difficult side to say no to if the report of their interest is accurate.
