The 19-year-old winger has made just one appearance for the Royals, coming on as a substitute on the final day of the season, and helping his team to a 3-0 victory over promotion chasing Derby County.
He has made 20 appearances at Under-21 level for his hometown team this term though, scoring five goals and registering three assists, and he is seen as one of the brightest talents in the Reading ranks.
Both Villa and Newcastle are keen on him, although it is expected that any signing will surely be with the future in mind. Fosu is unlikely to start featuring for the first-team immediately should a transfer come around, although that has not stopped both Premier League clubs from monitoring him across the past season.
In total, Fosu has made 28 appearances at youth level for his club, scoring eight goals and registering six assists, whilst his impressive form has also seen him represent England on one occasion, making an Under-18 appearance in 2013.
There are no indications as to whether either of the Premier League duo have submitted a formal approach for Fosu, but Reading are surely set to hold out for a large fee due to the impressive potential the young right-sided winger has shown.
