Bertrand joined Southampton on loan from Chelsea at the start of the year - going on to make his move permanent in January - and he has impressed during his first season at St. Mary's.
The left-back has been a useful weapon going forward and has also helped Southampton to secure a very impressive defensive record.
His pace and energy has been a key part of Ronald Koeman's side's game and Le Tisser believes that the consistent high level of his performances mean that he has been the standout performer in the Saints' side - just ahead of Jose Fonte.
“It’s between two players for me. I’m torn between captain Jose Fonte and Ryan Betrand," he said. "They’re both defenders as our defence has been the bedrock of the campaign. Up to a month ago it would have been Fonte but Bertrand has been so consistent over the season that he edges it.”
Bertrand's performances have been hugely impressive and he looks to have been a very astute purchase for Southampton.
The England international had big shoes to fill when he first linked up with the Saints, as he had to cover for Manchester United-bound Luke Shaw, but he has thrived after receiving regular action.
Bertrand looks like a player Southampton will now be able to count upon for a number of years and he will be hoping to play a big part next season, when Koeman’s men will be aiming to break into the top-six.
