SkySports pundit Matt Le Tissier: Apart from Kane, only two Tottenham players have impressed this season

Southampton legend Matt Le Tissier believes Tottenham Hotspur have had very few individually impressive campaigns.

Former Southampton midfielder Matt Le Tissier has given a harsh assessment of Tottenham Hotspur's squad.

Speaking to SkySports, the former Premier League star said that only two players have impressed him aside from top goalscorer Harry Kane, and even then only fleetingly.

He said: "There’s been the odd flicker from Chadli and Eriksen but there’s not been a lot of good campaigns from individuals, Kane aside.

"In all honesty, I expect at least 10 players to be leaving Spurs this summer – it’s another re-building job."

Chadli and Eriksen are the two players who have impressed the most of Franco Baldini's signings in the summer of 2013, with most struggling.

Belgian international Chadli did not kick on in his first season but has really stepped up in 2014/15, scoring 11 times in the Premier League.

Eriksen was key in the first half of this season and while his form dipped in the crucial run of fixtures in February and March, he is an invaluable part of the Spurs side.

Le Tissier's comments however overlook other impressive performances from Tottenham players.

Goalkeeper Hugo Lloris has been consistently great, with just one poor display away at Chelsea, but perhaps his outstanding ability is taken for granted.

He misses out Ryan Mason's breakthrough year in which he has stepped up from being a reserve to an England international, and a continuation of an excellent start to his career at the club from Nabil Bentaleb.

Tottenham's squad does carry too much dead weight, which head coach Mauricio Pochettino has to address in the summer, but their fifth placed side deserve more credit than Le Tissier gives them.
