The France international midfielder is one of the best players in the current Newcastle squad and scored a hugely important goal against West Ham United at home on Sunday, but it seems that the supporters want him gone.
The 25-year-old scored the opening goal in the Magpies’ 2-0 win against the Hammers at St. James’ Park.
Following the game, Sissoko, who joined Newcastle from Toulouse in 2013, said that he wants to remain at St. James’ Park.
“I still have four years on my contract, and I am very happy to be staying here with Newcastle,” the 25-year-old told The Shields Gazette.
“I am going to have one week off now, and then after that I will be joining up with the national team. I will be back in Newcastle in July, and I am still here and still happy.
However, it seems that the Newcastle supporters are not happy with Sissoko’s overall performances this season and want club owner Mike Ashley to sell him (see Twitter comments below)
In 34 Premier League appearances this season, Sissoko scored four goals and created 43 chances.
The Frenchman had a pass accuracy of 79% and a shot accuracy of 48%, and he won 47 headers, 85 dribbles and 34 dribbles.
