Newcastle United defeated West Ham United 2-0 at home on Sunday to retain their Premier League status for next season.

Newcastle United midfielder Jonas Gutierrez has suggested on social networking site Twitter that he will leave in the summer transfer window.

Gutierrez has been on the books of Newcastle since 2008, but his current contract with the Magpies runs out in June of this year and no new deal is in place.

The Argentine has now hinted on Twitter that Sunday’s game against West Ham United at home was his last for the club.

Gutierrez was the hero against the Hammers, scoring the second goal in a 2-0 victory at St. James’ Park which secured their survival in the Premier League.

France international midfielder Moussa Sissoko, who headed Newcastle in the lead in the 54th minute, posted the following message on Twitter:

Attacking duo Siem de Jong and Ayoze Perez also revelled in the Magpies’ survival in the top flight of English football.

Newcastle finished 15th in the Premier League this season with 39 points from 38 matches.
