Michael Owen has predicted in his Colossusbets.com column that Norwich City will win the Championship playoff final against Middlesbrough today.
The former Liverpool and Manchester United striker predicts a narrow victory for the Canaries at London’s Wembley Stadium.
“Middlesbrough did the double over Norwich this season by an aggregate of 5-0, but I am taking Norwich to get their revenge if there is to be a winner after 90 minutes,” Owen wrote in his Colossusbets.com column.
“My main fancy is for a low-scoring draw, but I think Norwich may just nick it to return to the Premier League and the riches that brings. So I go 1-1, 0-0 and 0-1.
“That 1-0 Middlesbrough defeat in April aside, Norwich ended the season in brilliant form, and could just shade this. I don’t expect many goals though, and a draw is my main fancy.”
Could Michael Owen’s prediction come true?
Both Middlesbrough and Norwich will head into the playoff final with confidence, and it is not easy to choose a winner.
Aitor Karanka’s side have probably been the better side over the course of the season, but form is not going to count much today.
The first 15 minutes of the game will be crucial. An early goal could eventually prove to be the difference, as chances could be few and far between.
The key will be to play the match, and not the occasion. It can be easy for players to get carried away with the fact that they would be playing at Wembley.
