Leeds United fans have taken to social networking site Twitter to urge the club to sign Jermaine Beckford in the summer transfer window.
The 31-year-old striker spent most of the 2014-15 season on loan at Preston North End, whom he helped get promoted to the Championship via the League One playoffs.
The Jamaica international scored a hat-trick in the playoff final against Swindon Town at London’s Wembley Stadium on Sunday, helping Preston to a comprehensive 4-0 victory.
HITC Sport reported last week that Leeds are interested in re-signing Beckford, who is a fans’ favourite at Elland Road and scored 72 goals during his previous four-year spell at the West Yorkshire club.
Following the former Everton and Leicester City striker’s heroics in the League One playoff final on Sunday, Leeds fans took to Twitter to make it clear to club chairman that Massimo Cellino that he should make him an offer.
#lufc so looks like it's 50/50 with Beckford , I'm still not convinced that at over 30 he is our best option however he is free so maybe....— tim mollitt (@sparkytim999) May 25, 2015
