Harry Kane has admitted that Tottenham still have a long way to go, despite an impressive campaign.
Speaking to the official Spurs website, Kane has admitted that Tottenham still have a lot to learn, even if this campaign has been an impressive one.
The hotshot striker said: “We’ve a lot to learn without a doubt, we’re a young side but we’ve finish fifth, reached a cup final and had great experiences that we can all learn from. Now we have to build on it next season.”
Kane’s admission certainly sums up Tottenham’s season correctly, and a fifth place finish and the League Cup Final is more than many would have asked for at the beginning of the campaign.
Not only has the domestic form been acceptable, but Spurs have got a clear vision in place regarding their future, and have enjoyed the prosperous breakthroughs of a number of young academy players - with Kane being the standout.
The only real disappointment of the season was poor performances in the Europa League, which could have led into Europe if head coach Mauricio Pochettino had focused his attentions upon that competition.
Regardless, Spurs have done well, but they need to find more consistency if they are to truly improve and start to break into those top four places in the coming seasons.
It seems as if expectations were heightened earlier in the campaign due to Kane’s breakthrough and an incredible run of form, but after the turbulent times at White Hart Lane in recent years, Pochettino has worked incredibly well to stabilise the club.
With a full season behind him, and a pre-season coming up, Pochettino can now truly start to focus upon moving Tottenham forward - making them real challengers for Premier League success.
