Former Sunderland and Derby County striker Marco Gabbiadini seems to believe that Mike Ashley staying is good for Newcastle United.

Former Sunderland striker Marco Gabbiadini has taken to social networking site Twitter to give his backing to Newcastle United owner Mike Ashley.

Ashley has come under strong criticisms from the Newcastle fans for the team’s apparent lack of competitiveness.

The supporters are frustrated with the way the Englishman has been running the club over the past few years and also want more investment.

Prior to the MagpiesPremier League game against West Ham United at St. James’ Park on Sunday, Ashley gave an interview to Sky Sports in which he made it clear that he is not planning to sell the club.

While many Newcastle fans will have been disappointed to hear that, former Derby County star Gabbiadini seems to suggest that Ashley is good for the club in the long run.

Newcastle defeated West Ham 2-0 at home on Sunday to stave off relegation from the Premier League.
