Southampton defender Toby Alderweireld has taken to social networking site Twitter to reveal that he enjoyed this season.
Alderweireld joined the Saints from Spanish club Atletico Madrid on a season-long loan deal in the summer transfer window.
The 26-year-old proved to be a shrewd signing for Ronald Koeman’s side, as he showed his versatility in defence and established himself as an important player for the team as the season progressed.
In 26 Premier League appearances this campaign, the Belgium international scored one goal and created seven chances.
Alderweireld had a pass accuracy of 80% and a pass accuracy of 58%, and he won 37 headers, seven dribbles and 35 tackles.
Following Southampton’s 2-0 defeat to Manchester City away from home at the Etihad Stadium in the Premier League on Sunday, the former Ajax star posted the following message on Twitter:
It will be interesting to see what Southampton decide about Alderweireld’s future.
However, Southampton will be challenged for the Belgian’s signature by North London outfit Tottenham Hotspur, according to The Mirror.
