Liverpool winger Raheem Sterling has been in the news this week. The England international is set to leave the club this summer after clearly becoming disillusioned with life at Anfield, for whatever reason.
His agent has also courted controversy and today he was roundly abused by Liverpool fans as he was left on the bench for the 6-1 demolition at the hands of Stoke City.
Liverpool have been linked with an Arsenal player if it comes to replacing Sterling. The Independent reported this week that Walcott remained on the radar of Liverpool for the summer. His contract at Arsenal expires next summer and he is said to be miffed by his recent lack of activity.
Today however he started against West Brom and was in superb form. He scored a hat-trick as Arsenal thumped The Baggies at The Emirates.
Which led one former player and current pundit to suggest Liverpool would be better off with the Arsenal man, rather than sulking Sterling.
Robbie Savage, who played for the likes of Leicester City and Blackburn Rovers in his playing career, now works as a pundit for the BBC.
He Tweeted this message earlier, suggesting Walcott is a better option than Sterling.
"Walcott hat-trick I'd take a fully fit Walcott over sterling all day long ..." http://t.co/aUveuBb1y9— Robbie Savage (@RobbieSavage8) May 24, 2015
Sterling definitely looks like he is on his way out of Anfield, Walcott's future is more of a mystery.
Both players' futures will be resolved in the not so distant future. The possibility of a swap certainly seems to be on the cards.
