Leeds United are now looking at the transfer market ahead of the new season under a new boss. Uwe Rosler took charge on Wednesday and is believed to be looking at two free transfers with plenty of experience in English football.
Baird is currently at West Brom, where he has played 29 times this season. In the past he has played for the likes of Fulham, Reading and Burnley - after starting his English career at Southampton.
He has 65 caps for Northern Ireland and is a very adaptable player. Capable at centre-back, full-back and holding midfield - he would be a shrewd addition to the Leeds first-team.
Pearce has proven himself a real talent at Reading in recent times. A local boy, he has five caps for the Republic of Ireland - scoring twice. He has captained Reading for much of this season, with Jem Karacan injured, and shone in the recent FA Cup semi-final against Arsenal.
Leeds could land both for nothing, as their deals at their respective clubs expire next month.
Time will tell if Leeds are truly keen on the players, who would both be great signings.
