As per a report in Spanish publication AS, Real Madrid have competed their first transfer of the summer by agreeing a €5 million deal for highly-rated youngster Federico Valverde.
“Federico Valverde, the pearl of Uruguay's Under-17 side, is now a Real Madrid player. Madrid paid CA Peñarol five million euros for the promising teenage midfielder, who flew out to the capital last week to undergo a medical revision,” the Spanish paper AS confirms.
Valverde is described as a technical midfielder with attributes similar to creative midfielder Isco – wonderful passing, excellent movement with natural ability to create openings.
His deal with Madrid follows fellow youngsters Martin Odegaard and Lucas Silva, a common theme as the La Liga giants look to build towards the future by acquiring the world’s best upcoming talent.
The Uruguayan starlet has represented his nation at U17 level, scoring seven goals in eight appearances since making his debut resulting in a strong following among his supporters.
He is set to stay at Penarol for the following campaign before finally moving to the Spanish capital when he turns 18 in the following summer of 2016.
