Back in January, reports surfaced of a bitter row between the duo during a training-ground session and defender Jeremy Mathieu confirmed as much on French radio station RMC.
“It happened when we returned from holidays. Suddenly, because of a foul that didn't get called [in training], Leo threw a tantrum,” Mathieu was quoted as saying by the Daily Mail.
“Afterwards, the coach spoke to him in the dressing room and that was that. It happens at every club, but because this is Barcelona it's big news. And that's the problem.”
The story only added further pressure on Enrique following Barca’s stuttering campaign which saw them lose ground on then-leaders Real Madrid following a 1-0 loss at Real Sociedad.
However, a tactical switch which saw Messi move out to the right to accommodate Luis Suarez as a central striker prompted a massive turnaround and success ensued on all fronts.
Despite letting slip a 2-0 lead at home to Deportivo, the Nou Camp was the centre of huge celebrations on Saturday as the Catalans enjoyed their La Liga triumph during Xavi’s last league game for the club.
And amid the post-match ceremony, Messi and Enrique were snapped embracing each other as talk of their fractured relationship is now nothing more than a memory.
