The record goalscorer at St James Park is hoping for a Tyne-Tees derby.
Newcastle United have survived in the Premier League relegation battle, after beating West Ham United 2-0 at St James Park this afternoon. A header from Momo Sissoko and a fairy-tale strike from Jonas Gutierrez did the trick for The Toon - who can look forward to a season in the Premier League once again next term.
It was of course a result that went down well with Alan Shearer. The Newcastle legend, who was manager the last time Newcastle were relegated to the second tier, sent out this Tweet after the result came through - in which he showed support for local rivals Middlesbrough:
Boro are of course in action tomorrow, with the hope of making it to the Premier League to face Newcastle on a regular basis.
Middlesbrough take on Norwich City in the Championship play-off final and go into the game as slight favourites after the way they dispatched Brentford in the semi-finals.
Shearer, who is Newcastle United's record goal-scorer, is clearly hoping there will be some fiery Tyne-Tees derby games in the 2015-16 season.
