Michael Owen and Peter Lovenkrands react on Twitter to Newcastle’s survival

Newcastle United defeated West Ham United 2-0 at home on Sunday to secure Premier League survival.

Michael Owen has taken to social networking site Twitter to express his delight at Newcastle United’s survival in the Premier League.

The Magpies defeated West Ham United 2-0 at St. James’ Park on Sunday afternoon to retain their top-flight status for next season.

After a goalless first half, France international midfielder Moussa Sissoko headed Newcastle in the lead in the 54th minute.

Then with just five minutes of normal time remaining, Argentine midfielder Jonas Gutierrez made it 2-0 for the home team.

Over the course of the 90 minutes, Newcastle had 41% of the possession, took 17 shots of which four were on target, and earned two corners.

Owen, a former Newcastle striker, was happy to see John Carver’s side remain in the Premier League and made the following post on Twitter:
