Manchester United fans react on Twitter to Victor Valdes performance v Hull City

The Spaniard looked dodgy at times, but also made some sensational saves.

Manchester United face a real battle to hold on to their goalkeeper this summer. David De Gea is being heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid, to replace the ageing Iker Casillas.

De Gea missed today's final game of the season against Hull City with a hamstring strain, so United fans may have got a glimpse of the future in their goalkeeping department - as Victor Valdes stood between the sticks instead.

Valdes, a Barcelona legend, has played second fiddle to his countryman since signing on a free transfer. He is obviously a highly talented stopper but today, Manchester United fans got to see the good and the bad from the custodian.

He dropped two easy catches and one of them almost saw United go 1-0 down against Hull. Hll scored, but it was adjudged offside.

But he also made two magnificent saves. His effort to save a header from Ahmed Elmohamady was on par with the one Joe Hart made last week from Federico Fernandez. In fact, it might be better, as he had to get to the ground to make it.

If Manchester United do decide to go with Valdes in the event of a De Gea sale, life will never be boring at the back. But it will also be guarded by one of the best shot-stoppers in a generation.

Here is some of the best Twitter reaction to Valdes' performance...
