Confirmed: Stoke City and Liverpool line-ups

Stoke Britannia Stadium

Here is how Stoke City and Liverpool will line up for this afternoon’s match:

Stoke City welcome Liverpool to the Britannia Stadium today with Steven Gerrard turning out in a Reds shirt for the last time.

Stoke are currently ninth in the Premier League having enjoyed a fine campaign under Mark Hughes, recording a number of impressive results in the process.

As for Liverpool, they are fifth but will no doubt look back with regret on some poor performances that cost them the chance of Champions League football next season.

As it is, Liverpool could still finish as low as seventh if they lose and both Tottenham Hotspur and Southampton win, so Brendan Rodgers’ side will be fully focused on getting one over the Potters.

All Stoke’s top-flight victories against today’s opponents have come at home, so that bodes well, although the fact that Liverpool have lost only one of their last eight meetings tells its own story.

Whatever happens, expect an exciting clash with plenty of incident and a few tears at the final whistle for a departing skipper.
