Aston Villa boss Tim Sherwood has told the club's official website that he's looking forward to seeing left back Joe Bennett during their pre-season preparations.
Sherwood has guided Villa to safety in the Premier League from what looked like a perilous position at one point, with Sunday's game against Burnley on the final day of the season little more than a dead rubber game.
Sherwood will though be looking to start planning for next season, and a host of players have just returned to Villa Park after loan spells in the Football League.
Midfielder Gary Gardner and forward Callum Robinson have returned from Nottingham Forest and Preston North End respectively, whilst left back Bennett is also back having been on loan at Brighton and Hove Albion this season.
The 25-year-old joined Villa from Middlesbrough back in 2012, and whilst he played 29 games in his debut season, he featured just six times last term before making the loan move to Brighton.
After a season of regular first team football, Bennett is now back at Villa and looking to impress Sherwood - and so far, it looks like he is doing a good job of that.
Sherwood has told the club's official website that he's been happy with Bennett's displays in training so far, and is eager to see more over the summer.
"Joe has done great," said Sherwood. "I have seen him for a week and he's done very, very well. I am now looking forward to seeing him in pre-season," he added.
