Rangers will face Motherwell in the Scottish Premiership playoff final after getting the better of Hibernian in the semi-finals.

Peter Lovenkrands has taken to social networking site Twitter to express his delight at Rangers’ progress to the Scottish Premiership playoff final.

The Gers have earned the right to play the 11th-placed team in the Premiership for a place in the Scottish top flight next season.

Stuart McCall’s side have got the better of Hibernian 2-1 on aggregate in the playoff semi-finals.

Rangers lost the second leg of the tie 1-0 away from home at Easter Road in Edinburgh this afternoon, but Wednesday’s 2-0 win at Ibrox in Glasgow proved to be enough.

Lovenkrands, a former Rangers attacker, was watching the match, and he was delighted to see his old club retain the chance to return to the Scottish top flight.

Over the course of the 90 minutes at Easter Road, Rangers had 43% of the possession, took four shots of which two were on target, and earned two corners.

Rangers will now face Motherwell over two legs next week for a place in the 2015-16 Scottish Premiership campaign.
