Iker Casillas says he would like to see David de Gea sign for Real Madrid

The Manchester United goalkeeper would be welcomed to Real Madrid if he were to arrive this summer.

Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas has made a very surprising comment about his countryman David de Gea.

The Manchester United ‘keeper has been heavily linked with a move to the Bernabeu this summer, and in comments published by ESPN, the man he is being tipped to replace has welcomed his potential arrival.

When asked if he would like to see the United ’keeper sign for Real, Casillas is quoted as saying, “Of course I would.”

When you consider how well De Gea has played this season and with Casillas's long-term future at Madrid in doubt, the statement may not be the kind you would expect from the 34-year-old.

But with the current Real number one seemingly have no intention of being pushed aside just yet, De Gea’s presence may in fact push his fellow Spaniard on to greater things if he were to arrive from Old Trafford.

Of course this all remains speculation for now, with it seems Casillas would welcome any and all challengers for his position next season.
