Former Liverpool attacker Ryan Babel has taken to social networking site Twitter to send a message to Barcelona defender Thomas Vermaelen.
Ex-Arsenal centre-back Vermaelen is set to make his debut for the newly-crowed Spanish champions against Deportivo La Coruna at Camp Nou this evening.
The Belgium international joined Barcelona from the Gunners in the summer of 2014, but injuries have impeded him from making an impact for the Spanish giants.
Vermaelen underwent hip surgery in December, and it seems that he has finally recovered and is fully match-fit.
Barcelona coach Luis Enrique has confirmed that the 29-year-old will play today and has been quoted as saying by talkSPORT: “Xavi will start tomorrow? Yes. Vermaelen will play? Yes.”
Former Liverpool attacker Babel, who is currently on the books of Turkish club Kasimpasa Spor Kulubu, is happy for Vermaelen and sent him the following message on Twitter:
Great to hear that @thomasvermaelen will play tomorrow... Success !— Ryan Babel (@Ryanbabel) May 22, 2015
Barcelona have already won La Liga this season and are chasing the treble. The Blaugrana will take on Athletic Bilbao in the final of the Copa del Rey, and will face Italian champions Juventus in the final of the Championship.
